For now, this full-day trip is only offered as a private charter. For rates, see our "private charter" page. "Around St. Maarten/ St. Martin" trip description : Departure is @ 9 AM from Dock Maarten (Chesterfields Restaurant) in Great Bay, Philipsburg, the marina closest to the Pointe Blanche Cruise Facilities. Leisurely trip West out of Great Bay headed toward the French side. Along the way passing Little Bay, Cay Bay, Pelican Point, Simpson Bay, Maho Bay with a stop for a few minutes to see if any planes are coming in for a landing, Mullet Bay, Cupecoy, and Long Bay with a view of La Samana. A stop anywhere along this side for a quick swim. Continuing on past Plum Bay with a view of the Lowlands (Terres Basses) Villas, past Baie Rouge, and The French capital Marigot. Continuing on past Marigot we pass Friars Bay, Happy Bay and Grand Case, known as the culinary capital of the Caribbean. We arrive off Grand Case at Creole Rock about 10- 10:15AM Creole Rock is part of the French nature reserve. Its underwater scenery offers hard and soft corals, tropical fish, sting rays, and always the possibility of lobster, moray eels, eagle rays and occasionally a dolphin. Snorkeling is exquisite here, so we stay approximately 1.5 to 2 hrs. At midday we can either have a lunch stop at the Grand Case Lolos (great value for your money) OR we move on to Pinel Island for a (considerably higher-priced) lunch with fresh lobster and assorted seafood choices. Pinel is much more expensive but a nicer venue incorporating the beautiful beach and swimming. Pinel Island is a second site we visit within the French nature reserve. Protected white sand beach with shallow, calm water for swimming and a designated snorkeling area. Not always the best visibility and Creole Rock is much better for snorkeling all around. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent. After lunch, at about 1:30 PM, we head over to Tintamarre, passing Anse Marcel, Grandes Cayes and Petites Cayes. We swim, snorkel and do the Mud bath on Tintamarre until about 3:45 PM. The nature reserve of Tintamarre is a small deserted island with a fabulous golden beach, bordered by red cliffs. Swimming and snorkeling and basic sunbathing are available, but no other services. Guests are encouraged to try the famous "Mud Baths." The Swaliga crew will gather the Tintamarre mud for you. Apply to your skin and allow to dry in the sun. As the mud dries, it shrinks and supposedly removes impurities from the skin. Once the mud is rinsed off, your skin's left tingling and invigorated, an exfoliating treatment offered free of charge by Mother Nature ... It's similar to expensive spa treatments costing more than the cost of this tour ! We continue our trip circumnavigating the island past Orient Beach, Le Gallion, Bay Lucas and Coralita, Oyster Pond, Gibbs Bay, Guana Bay and Pointe Blanche and arrive back at Dock Maarten at 4:45 - 5 PM. |
